DAY .. 30.April 2009 -
"Vårlige vinder", Molde
No wind but we went up to 700m and the
conditions was great. Started flying DS just
minutes after getting there. The mountain was
the "Skalten" and we could drive all the way up.
lots of pilots showed up and we had a great day.
DAY .. 29.April 2009 -
"Vårlige vinder", Molde
Went a bit too late and was on the slope too
late for the huge conditions but some got nice
air to play with. Summer over here on the
Northwest coast of Norway. The eagles play just
10m above our heads and temperature says get
into your shorts.
The event has not started yet but 7 pilots on
the slope.

DAY .. 28.April 2009 -
Nemo / AXN Floater
Going to a slope event this week and have packed
the car with loads of planes. The last ones in
was the Nemo and a new AXN Floater from China.
Just had to check out one of these since the
shipping was more expensive than the model
itself.. With a 3 cell lipo it is overpowered
and noisy but is a stable and fairly well built
model. It comes almost ready to fly. Just add
receiver/battery, adjust the pushrods, glue the
tail and you are good to go. Cruises well at 1/4
throttle and since the ailerons is far in on the
wing you can use them with slightly positive
camber for more float. This means off course
that it will not roll like a aerobatic model but
with a bit of help it does rolling circle. The
model can be flown on only rudder/elevator
though. 60 degrees ailerons up and it sinks well
as a brake. One thing I did not do was to make a
strap for the battery. After a couple of inside
loops it flipped out never to be seen again...
Model is made of some kind of EPP so comes down
like a dancing leaf with no damage.
The Nemo micro DLG was flown earlier in the day
at a nice slope with lots of thermals passing.
As you can see the ice is still there but one
needs a boat to fly on it... Nice to fly this
model again.

DAY .. 25-26.April 2009 -
Nystuen / Filefjell
So you thought it was summer? Yes it is. But it
is also summer in the mountains. Every year some
of the club members have a week in the mountains
together with the bigger planes from the clubs
Klanten and Valdres. More pilots should go
to this "wintercamp" since it is warm and great
to be among the huge mountains up here. I
sometimes take a day or two here but figured
this time it was time for a couple of days. We
stayed in filefjellstuene and that was a good
choice. Excellent food in the top class and very
high class place overall. Me and Fredrik arrived
on the 26th and the guys had been flying for
many days already. We stopped on the way and
flew some FPV as I have done a bit the last
days. But we lost contact and crashed 10m up in
a tree... (cool to watch the video though).
Guess I have not forgotten my climbing skills...
;) Well up in the mountains we joined the
RC-group with pilots and families and got some
good suntan while we had some good quality time.
Some got to fly some big planes and did flyby's.
I flew Easyglider and Diablo electro. The next
day me and Fredrik went to fly some microlight (CTsw
LN-YAO). We each got a flight and while Fredrik
flew over to Årdal I flew down to Besseggen -
Beitostølen - Slettefjell and up Vangsmjøsa
before landing at Tyin again. Thanks to Kåre
Weeg for nice flights. To cruise at 100mph in
5-6000feet and still be under the mountains is
cool. I flew most of the flight myself and I
suspect more flights this summer might be
cool...

DAY .. 20-24.April 2009 -
FPV
Yes I have flown a bit of FPV but since this is
now "illegal" in Norway unless you fly within
normal range and on legal frequencies I choose
to tone down my write-ups a bit on this matter.
Sorry. I need to get some 10mw 2.4ghz video
equipment if I want to continue I guess.
DAY .. 19.April 2009 -
F3J Norwegian Cup
Not an early start in the Norwegian competitions
but we had briefing at 10:00 and started 15min
later I think. Nice and sunny but the wind
picked up at 70-90 degrees from the side and
over a hill. Launching and landings was
difficult and lots of turbulence did make it an
interesting day. Many thermals around but before
the finals they were getting weak. We managed 6
rounds and 2 finals and I won. Fredrik did not
fly the last round but did not get last and I am
very happy with him. He so much wants to do
better that it effects his flying. He did beat
pilots in almost all rounds and flew his 1700g
Supra in high winds and turbulent and got home
with a complete model (model was not prepared
for ballast). Some creased their fuses and one
even landed in a nearby tree. Yes it was
difficult! All were happy I think and we even
managed a good lunch and 2 finals before we
ended and went home. This was the first
qualifying for the WC F3J 2010. I flew my Pike
Perfect ET with ballast all flights. Number 2
flew RaceM, nr.3 flew Explorer and nr.4 Pike
Perfect.
Thanks to Egil that again pulls these
competitions in the
Vingen club.

DAY .. 18.April 2009 -
Practice day
me and my son got away one day early to this
years first National Cup F3J in the club Vingen
about 4 hours driving from home. We arrived
early enough for a good day of flying in nice
spring weather and thermals all over the place.
Stig, Jørgen, Jostein and Egil joined us. In the
evening Stig and Jostein joined us for a nice
dinner and some beer in a local restaurant. We
stayed the night in a cabin with Stig. Nice and
small cabin by the water. Stig snored a lot but
I guess I can be worse ;)

DAY .. 13.April 2009 - Soarist Cup 2009,
aftermath
Yesterday evening me and Larry Jolly went back
to Mustafa and watched the football match of the
year (Galatasaray versus Fenerbahce) with his
family and friends. The kids are all crazy about
football and will jump in the seats while we eat
5 different pizza's. The match ended in the
worst player fighting maybe ever and the fans
was disappointed I think. They are very
passionate about football in Turkey. After the
game we had a nice dinner and went dead tired
into bed. This morning me and Larry went to the
Soarist club workshop and will work on a couple
of Perfect's that needs finishing. We will meet
up with Philip, Murat and Reinecke's later in
the evening for dinner. Going home tomorrow
morning after my 9th visit to this nice country
(9 stamps in my passport).

DAY .. 12.April 2009 - Soarist Cup 2009,
last day
Sitting here with my good friend Larry Jolly. We
are dead beaten but I will still try to get down
some words about the last day of Soarist Cup
2009. Did we have hi winds and Norwegian
temperatures the last day? Yes we did. Did we
just dress up and have a good time? Yes we did.
Did we laugh our way thru the weeken? Yes we
SURE did. Some missed the finals and some did
not. It was hard to get there and hard to be
there. It became a landing contest thru the 3
finals and one reflight. The jury was nice to us
and no long stories there as we kept it on a
friendly level. This is the good start of the
Eurotour season and with good friends, nice
accommodation and all the friendly and helpful
Turkish guys we are on for this year. We had
winds in the 4-6m/s today with some thermals and
overcast sky that made it interresting.
Sometimes you just fell out of the sky even
though you were on a nearby hill that should
have given you proper lift. Who was going to the
finals was a "pick your mistakes" kind of thing
and in the finals we had the same deal. Nobody
could touch Philip Kolb as he was in the 14:58's
(all finals)
and nailing the landing (98,98,99). Myself I had a some
good flights including 14:58's and never were
more than 3 seconds on the line. But in the last
final I dont know were I was in the last two
seconds and got a 92p landing and ended 8th. It
was that close... So there were for sure some
good pilots in that final!! Imagine throwing
your model and push down as soon as you can
reach your stick ;) Thanks to Soarist club and
Turkey for yet a nice contest. And thanks to my
team (4 in finals and Colin in 11th) and all my
F3J friends that entered this contest. I ended
up with 7000p of 7000p possible and love that ;)
And BTW Nice that all the juniors is applauded
and so many!!
1st Philip Kolb (Perfect), 2nd Reinhard Vallant
(Europhia), 3rd
Christian Reinecke (Aspire), 4th Benjamin Rodax
(Perfect), 5th

DAY .. 11.April 2009 - Soarist Cup 2009,
day 1
Sunny and I am almost burnt in the face but it
did not get really hot because of some winds
between the whole lot of thermals today. 51
pilots started round 1 and that is ok but could
be much more because this is a good competition
with all smiling faces, good food and what you
pay is nothing compared to what you get. Easter
might have put some home though because th
eprices for airline tickets went up just for
these days I discovered... The winds made some
of the rounds fairly easy but there were also
rounds that busted some that thought it would be
easy just to go for the hill. Not many new
planes but we did see some large and even larger
Explorer's (they have 4 sizes now..). I myself
and some others flew the Pike Perfect ET
(extended tip) and flew some with small ballast
and in the end of the day full ballast. Two last
rounds I was far beyond the hill and I threw in
the logger to check for holds on my 2,4
equipment. This is probably the worst place you
can fly 2,4 since it is in a valley with big
powerlines and 2,4 wlan on the field and in the
launch corridor for the timing equipment. Not a
single hold ;) My team is doing a great job.
Karel, Sebastian, Primoz and Colin is part of my
team and we have a great time with very few or
no mistakes made. Average times to win a 1000p
in a round is 9:54 and 97-99p landing I think.
Most of my flights were 9:55 and 97-99p landings
(0,2-0,6m). Myself I am very happy with day one
since I managed 5000p after 5 rounds.

DAY .. 10.April 2009 -
Soarist Cup 2009
Practice day of the Soarist Cup 2009. Eurotour
just outside Istanbul, Turkey. I arrived
yesterday and today we did practice flying on
the Riva field. The competitions here in Turkey
are back on the Riva field because most people
like this place. More convenient and a nice
place to have a gathering like this. There might
be some slope soaring since there is expected
high winds directly on the nearby slope but who
cares. We are here to have fun and may the best
man win ;) The also changed the hotel and we are
now in a very nice one not so far away and for
the same price as before. Dinner today was
absolutely great! As mentioned high winds but
the weather is going to be nice and a few great
days ahead of us I guess.
Loads of pictures HERE

DAY .. 7.April 2009 -
Perfect ET / electro
Had a friend visiting and we flew both electric
and winch the whole day. We checked out 2.4 both
JR and Futaba in the electric fuselage since he
flies Futaba. Have pictures. Will put out soon..
Just too much going on...

DAY .. 4.April 2009 -
Perfect ET
Today my son went around with only T-shirt all
day... Not kidding. It was +15-20C on the ice.
It is summer soon I guess. Fredrik flew his
Supra 6-7 flights and pushing the limits all the
time. Daddy was a bit concerned when he started
looping and rolling 5-10m above the ice on
approach.. But he know what he is doing and
still has not made other than scratches on his
planes. I flew my Pike Perfect ET. Conditions
were fairly calm but Fredrik found some air and
extended his flights well. I actually did not
find anything to talk loud about but flew
9-10min if I flew carefully. It was kind of
thick air in large patches. One needed to fly
the right part of it. Strange that it was not
full of pilots here today. Kay Arne and Mari was
there enjoying the sun. pictures of the Perfect
ET by Fredrik.

DAY .. 3.April 2009 -
Perfect ET
Ice is still great and with +13C and the sun out
it was time to get the winch out. Lots of
thermals today so despite one broken line and
one were the winch came loose I had lots of
flying time in the three flights. Kay Arne and
Mari also took time off for some flying but Kay
Arne thought it was a bit to much wind (4-8m/s)
for his U-Can-Do. Flew all flights with full
ballast and I love it.

DAY .. 1.April 2009 -
Old model
A guy from Oslo came to our airshow and said he
had followed the local newspaper. He had seen we
had some good recruting of young pilots and
wanted to give us some models that was old and
collecting dust. 2 models and 2 boats arrived
and one plane has now been in the air for over
an hour. The engine needed some care and
dismantling but started on the first kick and
the model flew well. Cool ;) The club now has
6!!! planes from various contributors of planes
and parts.
