DAY .. 31.August-2002
Went to Spydeberg for some extra practice before tomorrows F3J event. It was blowing hard from the south but at midday the north wind and some sun came to us. The Superior was flown a few times before the Pike Plus went for a spin. At WC F3J it went off the line in round 2 and I wanted to know why. The reason was as easy as not being in proper trim on the elevator. Damn crazy that such an stupid thing was the only thing that destroyed my placings... I guess I will be more prepared next time!! Sorry no photos from today.
 DAY .. 23-26.August-2002
Just a quick report on a trip to the west. Went to Espen Torp on Friday for some F3B practice. Ended up flying DS in 2-4m/s on the "Torp mountain" on Saturday but Sunday was practice on F3B speed from morning to long out in the day. Thnx I needed that Espen. Sunday afternoon I met my friends in Haugesund for some more DS on "Bokn" in 4-6m/s. The Superior is pretty rock steady in the DS but it was not enough wind to get it really rocking. Monday was spent waiting for the wind that came late. 3-6m/s gave us the opportunity to arrange for a small contest. 3 pilots is enough to have a cool session before the sun went down. We managed a 0 round and 4 rounds before we called it a day. The winner was Rolf Inge Waaga with just Arild behind and me trying to hang in there. Both me and Arild had two missed turns so Rolf Inge (Rollis) just had to win.
BTW Kristin is new member of the DS-team. Just 8 years old she had the coolest soap bubbles to blow into the DS-circles. Cool to see how the bubbles went way up and down again or just going with wind.
On the way back I also checked in at Vøringsfossen to see if the V-tronic was still there. It was.... (picture from day 200 here) A little higher up in the mountain I stopped and flew the Organic. It was a nice break since there was still a long way home. I was hoping for some DS-conditions but the wind was not straight into the slope (see picture for great DS-slope).

 DAY .. 22.August-2002
Sunday it is Electro comp. so I checked my electric setup for the Organic. I am not sure if i will go because Espen and practice of F3B is more important to me....

 DAY ..
18.August-2002
Yet another day with Organic. This time in 2,5m version and on a local field. My son is running for the parachute like was the coolest in the world!! I wonder how long before girls are more important ? For now he is trying to follow his father with the camera and took a few nice pictures.
This one
and this one

 DAY ..
17.August-2002
28 degrees in the shadow and a small breeze on the thermal slope is just what we needed. Organic 2m still going strong and later in the afternoon we tested my sons new "WC-plane". A small balsaplane with the World Championship logo. It went MANY times high up in the trees....

 DAY .. 16.August-2002
The weather is just plain nice and Organic was out on a thermal slope. My son was there also and its not long before he wants a piece of the action. I think he still needs to be older but will see (5 years now).

 DAY .. 14.August-2002
I did actually pack my Organic for a small spin at the slope but ended up testing my sons new "WC-kite" instead. The wind today should also could have been perfect on the DS-slope but anyhow...... I am considering to sell my Wizard Compact 2 for 5000Nkr anyone ? It is in good condition and still just as effective in DS as it was when new. It is not sold because its old. Just because I want to test new planes. Check the ad on Cirrus marketplace. I have bought one "new" carbon Ellipse 2 that Ronny Sandslett (RS-hobby) found lying around at WC.

 DAY .. 13.August-2002
Back home from WC in Finland I can look back on a splendid championship in thermal soaring and we met our big great family of smiling thermal-faces! It is always a nice experience to go for a world championship and this time we even showed a bit of. The results on paper was not superb but we were almost there and 0,5seconds in round 8 was probably the only thing that was not good in my flying. Just look at these times and you will see that these times will be great in any of the national competitions. I think I have never flown this good and really found the way to go during this championship. One thing: No way I could have done this without my whole team included juniors and helpers. We were 8 guys that really had a great time  in a small car and in a small apartment. Thank you all it was a pleasure and I would have done it again with you :-)

BTW our short starts with full 150m but 75m to the pulley was way cool and I was the only one that tried that at both the Wild mans trophy and in the WC. I were a little nervous so the results doesn't show how fast it really was but in 8th round we have some cool video showing me accelerating past Joe Wurts and zooming of at an early time.
The technical meeting asked who was in favour of shorter line and it was 23 against 11. This shows that it might have a future. There might be a problem when the startline is long so will see if other solutions come up. The Australians had a cool idea for a future element. 5min working time and a Lolo logger showing best height. These Lolo's can be supplied by the officials with internal battery and placed on top of the wing. Maybe with a led display and a reset button. Or what Roman ? Should be cool to see the best height during 5 min working time in a competition.

 DAY .. 1-12.August-2002
From
the first and to 12.July this page was not updated....
BUT check out F3J.no that
was updated almost every day
with results and gossip from World Championship F3J in Finland.

April - Over to English writing and nobody has complained yet (and almost nobody has said anything at all about it). This month has finally brought slope flying and some DS again. I have also brought home a second place in 3x12min electro competition with the Organic electro.
May - Ah finally spring was in the air and both DS and two major competitions both in Sweden. In Yellow Eagle trophy I managed to get to the finals and in Ørebro my receiver went crazy but had a good time flying the Organic. Cool. Finally the Superior arrived and that were interesting.
June - A new wonderful month with lots of flying. F3B, F3J-cup, new JW-wing, extra Superior and more real DS - DYNAMIC SOARING or as Espen says: "No limits, just DS! It will change your life!"
July - JW-wing, Goldagan, training for WC F3J and Nordic Championship F3B was the main issues. At the end of the month i went for WC (world championship F3J thermal soaring in Finland)
August - Major World Championship F3J in Finland was on and I went to Stavanger for some F3B practice.
