2009 - Christmas day
My Christmas gift from China arrived today and a
pleasent surprise to see some changes in the PII.
I have not had the time to inspect it all very
well but new tail stuff (have to inspect a bit
more details and stiffness), stiffer boom and
the wings seems slightly stiffer also. Fuse is
much nicer with the slimmer front and they kept
the good boom. Shiny finish and parts clicked on
right away.
Will weigh parts and do some meassuring later.

2009 - Christmas day
The local club always gather for Christmas day
flying. We have only 15cm of ice so no big field
yet but it will come soon (20cm is usually
enough). Here

and I also flew the Diablo 1,5m electric (not on
the video). Fredrik did not fly but had fun with
his new co2 gun...

2009 - Xplorer 3.8 electro
Shifted to some Lipo cells (2x 2200mah 3S for
the funny 13usd each) in the Xplorer 3.8
electro and had a flying Christmas day in -10C
at the frozen lake. Midday this is called the
"blue hour" in Norway. Especially up north.
Model now works well and got a decent climbrate
and very long motortime.

2009 - FPV
Thought I would show my girlfriend FPV and it
worked out fine for 10min but then I had some
glitches and went in. Have no idea why.
Repairable since it is a lot of snow here.

2009 - Xplorer 3.8 electro
Been snowing---snowing and a bit more snowing.
But got a session flying a Xplorer 3.8 with
electro motor. No big engine but a cheap and
light alternative with
Medusa 028-040-3400 w/ Multiplex
gearbox 4,3:1 I bought for 100usd on the
internet. A 80A HC controller. 3xA123 and a
14x9,5 prop. Only draws 45A so can take out a
lot more if I want to. As expected the cells
were a bit too cold since they were left in the
car night over. All up weight is 2362g were fuse
is 1065g. Could use the BEC on the controller
and use lipo instead of A123 and bring the auw
down to 2160g but dont want to take any chances.
Darkness came soon as you can see on
this
video (16mb .wmv) (or
vimeo version HERE) so I flew a bit of FPV
when it got all dark outside. It was difficult
to land on screen with all white landing
field... And the Blackstork GPS did NOT work as
expected. Piece of crap... Sorry but enough is
enough
