24.June
2008 - Pike Kobra DS
Ever had the feeling you are not sure about
sharing something? Today I had this feeling.
With no witness other than a video I can say
that I was flying xxx speed today by calculating
the speed frame by frame from video. Proven
maths says so but a witness with a radar gun
would be nice... Anyhow I did fly VERY SCARY
FAST today and I did capture some of it on video
(about 3Gb of raw HD video). It was very
turbulent and I had sometimes huge problems
controlling the circles but I came down in one
piece after apx 40min of flying (650mah used on
the Rx).

2008 - Nemo
Leaving soon for Turkey but dropped by Gol to
check out the power field as I was nearby. I
took out my Nemo and caught some nice thermals
while the power guys did not like the strong
wind between the thermals... ;)

17.June
2008 - Perfect
Alf Erik came up from Oslo to get some practice
so we went for Klanten and winch launched some
on 1,55mm line and 150m to the turnaround. Good
practice as there was plenty of both thermals
and sink. Fine tuned and tested some extra
camber on only the flap but was never happy with
it (to be able to spin more around one tip in a
thermal was the issue). Next Thursday (26th) is
the day we go for
World Championship F3J in Turkey.

15.June
2008 - Norwegian Cup F3J
We woke up to rain after a nice weekend in Skien/Porsgrunn.
Barbeque, sleeping and breakfast at Egil's place
is always nice so the weekend was good anyhow.
We quikly understood that it would not be a full
F3J event but we started anyhow to fly an
unofficial event. I used my brand new Pike
Perfect double carbon and poppep off in the
first start (never had a launch with it so...).
After lots of stops due to rain we ended up with
2 complete rounds and Egil flying my old
CrossfireV to an almost crash again. Now it was
sure that it was the new Tx's fault... SMS down
Europe confirmed that others also had
unexplained crashes due to this radio. Sad since
Egil had already had it back from service
(upgrade from the first version). Anyhow thanks
Egil for a great weekend and as you see from the
starting list so many wants to come here flying.

14.June
2008 - Norwegian Cup F3B
Flew my Skymax4 to a win in F3B. Poor conditions
with 8-10m/s wind from 90-110degrees from the
back but at the same time this is fun because it
takes out the best in you. Launches were
220-280m and Knut Vidar almost took the lead
after a blistering speed and launching in a
thermal (315m I think it was). I flew my Skymax4
and was happy. I did some bad launches in the
end but did not risk anything by relaunching. I
felt bad for Egil that after changing tx because
of some crashes now had two crashes with the new
radio... In the evening we tried to figure out
the fault but was not sure. Very late he ended
up buying my Crossfire V so he could fly the
next day.

2008 - More video from Podhorany Eurotour F3J
I have out together more video from Podhorany
Eurotour F3J (May 08).
Not any super stuff but it shows a bit what is
going on at a Eurotour event and maybe
especially what is going on when you are
launching and landing also at the runners side.

8.June
2008 - 229MPH with Pike Kobra DS and
Video
YES upped my personal best with 9mph and got a
229Mph (368km/h). Nice to see that the Kobra DS
is rock steady and that if I had enough memory
in the camera I am sure I was faster during the
session (but not on video this time). Conditions
were changing a bit with 6-10m/s winds on the
front and lots of huge thermals coming thru.
After the DS session (Petter flying his Wizard
when not operating the camera...) we went down
to the road and mounted the camera on the Pike
Perfect SL electro to check out the nearby huge
ridge. We wanted to see if there were some
landing zone here but does not look more than a
huge ridge with rocks sadly.

DAY .. 7.June
2008 - Skymax4
Petter Østbye came up here for a couple of days
in the mountains. The weather has been hot and
winds were supposed to be low the whole weekend
but he came anyhow just to be up here. We tried
to get up to Slettefjell but the road was closed
because of snow still in the road. We ended up
on Smørkollen and had a nice day though
conditions were not super. Some thermals came
thru making it great at times. I flew my
repaired Skymax4 and Petter his Wizard.

6.June
2008 - Extra
Me and Arild took a couple of flights with his
Extra 3m. I also got a flight. Flies very
similar to mine. Maybe slightly lighter. We dont
know... Still hot and it was nice to get up at
Klanten airport that is at 800m altitude and not
so hot as down in the valley.

5.June
2008 - Perfect SL
Warm also in Norway now and around 25-30C here.
I repaired some models after Eurotour F3F and
F3J lately and first out was my Perfect SL that
needed some hard winch launches. I installed my
new camera for some video of the wing and fuse
since they are not as strong as the standard
versions and this SL made confetti out of a
model in Podhorany. A small notch in the tip was
all I got and bending both sides seemed ok. Got
some nice videos as this new camera can make up
to 1280x720pixels and 30frames/sec. Only
downside is no zoom during recording. Had about
8 launches before I packed up and went to the
weekly building session with the youngsters (we
have 10 10-15 year olds that gets their
free model and equipment if they finish the
models and learn how to fly).
