Damn the ice broke loose again... Well there are ice on a nearby lake and just a few miles away so I might go for some flying soon. Since you probably are sitting there in front of your computer I might as well give you something to look at.. Thermals ??

   DAY .. 21. November - 2002
Received a new F3J-pulley today from Lage Salomonsen. That man makes just great pulleys and is situated here in Norway. The last pulley I got from him was lost at WC in Finland but now it has my name engraved into it!! The pulley is made in such a way that it is easy converted into a two-man pulley - just great! BTW making pulleys is not Lage's main job..... ask nice...
The weather has been terrible for flying the last days and I cant wait to get some more winching when the ice settles. As you see on the picture the ice has just settled and hopefully it is ready in a few weeks time.

Today I was trying to teach others all I know about electric planes and equipment. Two hours in a local club ( Ringerike modellflyklubb ) was not enough at all to tell all but I think they liked it and also told me that. I also did some "after dark" flying with my GT-wing. I equipped it with 3x10watt bulbs. I used normal car-bulbs directly attached to the 8-cell pack and this is enough to see the model in total darkness. Next time I will put the bulbs inside the wing as the white EPP is great for just this. Pictures by RMK

  DAY .. 10. November - 2002
Another day out but this time only for a brief few minutes. It is cold when one does not use wintertime-clothing in the -4 degrees celcius... The GT-wing went for a spin on a local football field with a small slope extending the flight to about 20min before I got to cold. This wing is fast and glides pretty good but I will have to adjust the CG a bit since it might go into a spin when flying too slow.
My son on 5 years like the snow and enjoys the possibilities for some cross-country skiing as you can see. He will have to learn that winter is not what a modeler normally wants :-)

7. November - 2002
Aaah finally there was an opening for some "real" flying. The Superior was ready and there was both sun and +2 degrees outside. The winch was set up at a local field and 3 flights of 15min later I was in heaven as always. 

The Superior is one great thermal machine. If you can find a better thermal ship for all conditions - please drop me a mail so that I can test it. I also have a new fuse that is even lighter because of new pushrods for the v-tail. The new pushrods are made of metal tubes and makes the fuse both lighter (30-50g less lead in nose) and made the elevator control stiffer because it is glued to the fuse. Great improvement compared to the aluminium rods used before.

I am sorry if not all of the pictures are visible because of my flash-tests..... I just have to test the possibilities. Just made some changes to the Samba-site also. Be sure to check the "old" section with "jaro-outdated-fun"..... Also some new production pages out. I cant wait to release the Brio-pages around christmas or so :-)

Not much flying these days. It snows and it is cold....
Just tested some Flashware and it works.... hmm more work


January 2002 - Det er kaldt, vinter, elektroflyging, men også plutselig varmegrader og årets første 12min termikktur. Fikk endelig slept i gang Mini-phønix'n og har testet en ny X-wing fra Flying wings i Stavanger.
Februar 2002 - Begynner å komme meg etter ryggoperasjonen og heldigvis..! kom den nå når det ikke er flysesong. Det viktigste som skjedde i Februar var opprettelsen av flere domenenavn: F3J.no (landslaget F3J) og VFKM.no (Valdres Flyklubb Modell). Klubben fikk seg også ny Skanner.
Mars 2002 - Dette ble en skikkelig modellflymåned!! Nye NM-regler på danskebåten, test av Diablotin for MI, Fagernes Flyshow, Årsmøte NAK, slepetreff Starmoen og Krystall Cup på Jevnaker (3'de plass). Endelig har også vinsjen kommet seg ut av dvalen igjen. Fremdeles ikke helt god i ryggen, så jeg må hjelp til de tyngste løftene med vinsjen.
April - Over to English writing and nobody has complained yet (and almost nobody has said anything at all about it). This month has finally brought slope flying and some DS again. I have also brought home a second place in 3x12min electro competition with the Organic electro.
May - Ah finally spring was in the air and both DS and two major competitions both in Sweden. In Yellow Eagle trophy I managed to get to the finals and in Ørebro my receiver went crazy but had a good time flying the Organic. Cool. Finally the Superior arrived and that were interesting.
June - A new wonderful month with lots of flying. F3B, F3J-cup, new JW-wing, extra Superior and more real DS - DYNAMIC SOARING or as Espen says: "No limits, just DS! It will change your life!"
July - JW-wing, Goldagan, training for WC F3J and Nordic Championship F3B was the main issues. At the end of the month I went for WC (world championship F3J thermal soaring in Finland)
August - Major World Championship F3J in Finland was on and I went to Stavanger for some F3B practice. 
September - At last I got to be Norwegian champion. Before I have a silver medal in sailing but now a gold medal from F3J is hanging on the wall. I even feel I have earned it :-)
October - Early winter this year but some electro competition, big glider meeting and some snowy DS (Dynamic Soaring).
November - Very little flying this month.. Did manage to get a few starts on the Superior and some electroflying. Also visited Ringerike MFK and talked for several hours about electro.
