Andre's T-rex became pretty cool when I got some time on
it with my plastic printer...

29.november 2006
A dad and his son out flying is always something
special. My son had been asking for a while now and it
was a sunny day with no or little wind. We found a field
that was not so wet up the hill and set up the bungee. I
think he was very confident in himself but came right
down again when he found that he needed a lot of
practice to fly this new model. That is the beauty of
modelling to me. One always have to work for it. But for
a 9 year old it was weird I guess as he flew well this
summer. But still I think he liked it ;-) Photos by

A friend of mine have been building a T-rex and I have
helped him setting it up. So what was more natural than
that I got the first flight! It flew ok and I think all
settings was almost spot on. Just a few clicks and
adjustment of pitch curve and it hovered well.

26.november 2006
It was supposed to be a F3J competition but because of
very heavy winds only 4 of us flew. But what a day. It
was SO good to finally get some winch starts. So it
became a practice day in sunshine and with the snow
disappeared (travelled a bit south for this) but high
winds (10-15m/s with 20 in the gusts. That is 22-33mph
and gusts 44mph). The competition was not started. Some
carnage. A Graphite built up broke a joiner on launch
and a Pike Perfect went down in turbulence at low
altitude behind some trees.
The starts today on 400m mono (200m to turnaround) was
extreme and cool. We flew Brio, Crossfire, Pike Perfect,
Graphite and X21. All held up fine and all was bending
good.... except the Graphite offcourse.... VERY nice day
for me and had a lot of starts with both thermal and
speed practice. We all agreed that even with 1,45 line
breaking like sticks it was worth it ;-)

Thinking about twisting that DS record? I am atleast. A
model you have not seen on the DS slope is being made
for me and tweaking directly for DS alone. Will not
reveal... In the meantime I got a fresh and nice email
from Dirk Flug with new airfoils for release on the
internet. Read more in my DS
site

Car is packed for sailplane flying but the weather is
not cooperating. So I do some service on a friends Majko
and X-wing and tested the X-wing outside our workshop.
Long time since I flew this kind of wing and I had
forgotten how well this wing flew (speed 280, Gunther
prop and 2 cell lipo). Andre took the pictures.

A trip to Sweden and "cottage" in south Norway in the
weekend and I offcourse some pictures of the cottage we
rented (the one in the middle). Swimming pool and bubble
bath indoor off course so almost a house and not a
cottage. Nice weekend with friends. With low red light
from the sun I got some very cool photos I think
compared to the daytime photos. This would not be
possible with a fuel heli I think.

14.november 2006
I did some more flying today as I wanted to test some
difficult photos. Winter with white snow and water with
low light is fun so I first went to a waterfall. This I
was sure was not going to be good and I was right.
Pictures straight onto a almost frozen waterfall is no
good. But I did not want to go the far way in snow to
get good ones. Might have gad to if it was a paid thing.
Got a cool photo of a farm before I moved to a river I
had seen in the local newspaper. They want to build a
small powerplant here. Got some ok photos and also of a
local shop just by the river.

Flat out Bipe from
RC-flight.com
I needed a new indoor model this year so a GP Bipe was
today ready for maiden. It was a short flight due to
work and charging but still I got 5minutes before I had
to rush. The model seems to be flying very well and
suprisingly light in the air. It is 320g due to size and
the equipment I have in (MTM400XT and GP650mah on a
9x3.8) but I think it is needed since it is so big.
Earlier I have flown a few double deckers but this one
was smooth and could fly very slow. It is good to have a
model that have a certain amount of drag when you fly
indoor. But then it needs to be designed correctly so
that it does not tip stall etc. The set itself is made a
bit different than the shockflyers but with a lot of
cool plastic parts to make life easy.. Comparing I liked
these solutions well but they needed some sanding to
move freely all over (typical plastic moulding). Reminds
me of building small plastic models really ;) What was
really different from others is that they have carbon
rods with a neat system with hinges instead of tape.
This seems to work well on my model and everything runs
freely and can withstand the cold conditions I fly in.
More on this as I get more airtime. While charging I
flew my Nemo mini-DLG and earlier in the day we tested
the smoke system on Arild's Velox 2,6m. Cool -
especially were the smoke came out of the DA canisters
;)

11.november 2006 - Kings Cup
Finally got my King's Cup on the 60th anniversary of the
local club. It was a great party with 50 people and 4
dishes at a local hotel. Me and Geir Atle also flew some
night flying both indoor and outdoor. He had a motor
model and I flew my Joker 2. It was COLD with -12
celcius (10F) but the Joker performed well with no
problems. Earlier in the day I also flew the Diablo
It was GREAT to get the King's Cup!!!!
Read the local newspaper HERE (very cool the local
reporter had no good pictures so they used one my son
took ;). -
More pictures from the party HERE by my son and me
(a great bunch actually)

10.november 2006 - Joker in the air again
Finally (well quick turnaround actually) the Joker 2 is
in the air again. New tailboom, mainshaft, drivebelt,
tailrotor shaft, pushrods, battery, blades, etc. and I
am in the air. Getting the hang of this now so did not
need a single click on the trim on the first flight
after the crash. Could see the rotor needed a touch of
adjusting but rock steady and a night picture (flew with
lights) showed that there were no vibrations ;-) My son
Fredrik took some funny pictures.

2006 - Diablo and Easyglider
Now the reason for yesterdays testing of Easyglider
without my son was that today I was teaching his school
class what flying is about. After 2 hours of teaching in
the classroom (with some indoor heli flying) we went out
and I flew both the Diablo and the Easyglider. The kids
worked as winch so I could take as many starts as I
wanted because they were eager to see this thing ;-) The
project was a success it seems!

2006 - Diablo and Easyglider
My son wanted to fly sailplane competition with me so I
had to buy him a sailplane. The choice fell on the MPX
Easyglider that flies ok and can take a lot of beating.
Fredrik built some of it himself but got a little help
from me.. So I guess I was entitled to a testdrive ;-)
The model flew as expected and with the supplied CG it
flew hands of with a few clicks up trim. Might take a
bit lead out of the nose but that will be later. I also
flew the Diablo although only a small road for landing.
So takeoff had to be from the hand. No problem off
course since it is overpowered. Good to have the lipo
alarm as my cold batteries in the Diablo went low on
voltage sooner than expected
Need
assurance that you have enough power onvboard? I have
used a few Lipo alarms from Peter Kirby and he has now
developed a new 10S Lipo alarm for me to have on the
heli and Adrenaline. I have now used the 5-6S version on
the Diablo and it works well! Gives me early feedback of
when to end my hovering or start to end the aerobatic.
It can be adjusted for various types of
batteries/voltage so it can be tweaked for your setup.
